The first sight one sees in when their airship comes into view of Shardholme is a pair of enormous crystalline towers sticking out of the edge. How they’re anchored into such a small spot of land is anyone’s guess.

A work of Cannith Engineering, these two massive crystals have been dug into and expanded from to create the airship docking towers on one side of the island, and have been hollowed out partially on the inside so that the ships may be kept safe during stormy weather.

Between the Twin Towers is a river that seems to flow endlessly from somewhere in the center out into a bay, and outside of either is a pair of large forested hills. The one on to the starboard of the incoming vessel is much rockier.

The island is huge- grown over with trees, enormous crystalline monoliths, and wildlife. Even just down on the beaches below, enormous turtles walk about, easily larger than the average man. A gigantic bridge links the pair of airship docking towers, and in the center a rail station has been constructed- made out of a combination of stone and multicolored crystal. The rail station goes into the distance- it seems to follow the path of the river for now, towards another crystal monolith.

The Monolith in the distance is brilliant green, and even standing here it’s like you can feel a pull to go to it.

Travelers soon learn that the monolith is known as the Axial Embassy- it’s the center of the island, almost exactly. With a small mountain to one side, and rivers on the other three, the area is relatively defensible on it’s own. In an effort to increase safety in the event of Shimmer Storms, a wall has been constructed around the Embassy, creating a sort of plaza that merchants have used to build up taverns and shops for basic necessities.

There are fewer than six hundred people living on the island, all told. Most of them work at the Embassy or are on one of the various scouting, arcane, or science teams that are employed there. Most embassies use official forces, though hired help is more than welcome- though often acknowledged as being more ‘expendable’.
